I have 10 years experience working as a film camera assistant on features and commercials. Over 3 years ago I was lucky to be involved in the first Red drama shoot in Scotland, working as a Focus Puller for Robbie Ryan BSC.
Since that time I sensed that the film industry was set to move very quickly towards digital formats. I decided to 'get in early' and learn as much as possible about these new cameras. I continued to work as a camera assistant and gradually took on more of a technician role and eventually ended up being a DIT - Digital Imaging Technician.
I was very lucky to have been trained on film as I feel it gives a much better understanding of 'having a system', the importance of correct and detailed paperwork and allowing me to communicate with DOPs and Post Houses in whatever medium/terms they are used to.
I've tried to keep up to date with advances in technology and have been an early adopter in HDSLRs by purchasing the Canon 7D on the day of release. My DIT Kit now encompases a Red Rocket, A Mac Pro, Two Macbook Pros with all the neccessary cards, power inverters, UPSs etc.
I'm happy to dry hire kit or come as a package. Or if you need a full camera package I can arrange the hire of a local Red package with Red Primes.
